Former Goal CEO Barry Andrews is to take up a new position as the director general of the Institute of International and European Affairs.

Mr Andrews will take over from Tom Arnold at the think-tank and policy research institute.

Ruairi Quinn, chair of the IIEA, welcomed Mr Andrews to the new role. "I believe Barry's experience as Minister for Children, as a parliamentarian, and as chief executive of Goal, has provided him with political and administrative skills which will be of real value to the IIEA at this uniquely challenging time, when Brexit is at the heart of our work," he said.
