Conlan declines PAC invitation
Q The recently resigned CEO of the Central Remedial Clinic, Brian Conlan (below), snubbed a request from his former chairman to appear before the Public Accounts Committee. Jim Nugent, acting CRC CEO, told the PAC meeting that he had asked Mr Conlan to attend, but he had declined.
PAC chairman John McGuinness was frustrated that Mr Conlan had failed to attend.
"We can't compel him to appear," Mr Nugent said.
Mr McGuinness responded sharply: "We can." The PAC can apply to another Oireachtas oversight committee for powers to compel witnesses to appear before it.
