Pensioners tell of terror ordeal in armed raid

An elderly couple have spoken of the shocking ordeal they experienced in their own home at the hands of three armed men who burst in demanding money in the middle of the night.

Kathleen Burke (82) and her husband Tony (75), pictured, were held at knifepoint, threatened with a gun, beaten, and knocked to the ground during the brutal robbery at their home at Ballynacargy in Co Westmeath.

Kathleen revealed how she bravely tried to grab the shotgun from one of the intruders, only to be pushed to the ground.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with information about the burglary to come forward.
