Pensioner dies in fire


GARDAI are investigating after the body of a woman was discovered following a fire at a house in Limerick city.

The elderly woman was found after firemen quenched the blaze at O'Curry Street, shortly before 9pm last night.

A spokesperson for Limerick City Fire and Rescue said they received an emergency call to the house just after 8pm and three fire tenders were dispatched.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A technical examination will be carried out.
