Penalty points report
Q A Garda report on an investigation into allegations about penalty points being waived by officers is now being studied by Justice Minister Alan Shatter, writes Tom Brady.
The findings of the inquiry were placed on the minister's desk yesterday. He promised that they would be published after he and senior officials have completed their examination of the report.
The allegations were made by a garda sergeant who accessed details of how penalty point cases were handled by officers in the force's internal Pulse computer system.
It is expected that tighter controls on access to information on Pulse will be introduced. These will bring a greater degree of transparency into what gardai are using the system for.
