Twenty wannabe 'pup-stars' gathered at the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre to audition for a role in all-singing and all-dancing show 'Legally Blonde: The Musical'.

Producers at the audition held a canine casting call to find the perfect pooch.

As part of the rigorous audition process, the dogs had to walk down a pink carpet, sit on command, give a paw, and perform a trick.

Judges said they were looking for a British bulldog with basic obedience.

The judges said they prized a good temperament above all else.

Moonie, the sassy Chihuahua who played Reese Witherspoon's canine companion in 2001 film 'Legally Blonde', died in 2016.

The musical will open on March 5.
