Patrons subject to strict polling rules
PATRON bodies vying to take over primary schools from the Catholic Church will be subject to strict rules about how much they spend on their campaigns, what they can say about each other and where they say it.
A limit of €300 has been set for spending on a campaign by an individual patron in any single area, while an overall ceiling of €4,000 for each patron applies.
They have been warned that no subjective statements about, direct commentary on or description of schools under other forms of patronage should be made.
The code also bans door-to-door calls on parents and other direct canvassing means of communications.
