Patients waiting for treatment on hospital trolleys up to 420
The number of patients on trolleys in Irish hospitals is increasing with 420 patients currently waiting in emergency departments.
The Irish Nurses' and Midwives Organisation said today that Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital has 51 patients waiting, the largest number at a single hospital.
It is followed by University Hospital Galway, with 44 patients waiting, and Beaumont Hospital, Dublin which has 33.
Fianna Fáil leader Micheal Martin said today that there was a lack of control over the health service, with waiting times increasing and no indication of who is in charge.
