THE partner of a former millionaire property developer -- who is to stand trial on charges of wasting garda time -- has died after a long battle with cancer.

Siobhan O'Callaghan, who was the devoted partner of Kevin McGeever (68), passed away on Monday evening at Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross in south Dublin.

Her funeral Mass will take place on Friday morning at the Church of Our Lady of Victories, Ballymun Road, north Dublin.

Ms O'Callaghan had cancer for 13 years.

She was due to celebrate her 49th birthday this weekend. It is understood she has been in the hospice since January of this year.

Mr McGeever is due to stand trial at a future sitting of Galway Circuit Court.

He is facing two charges of wasting Garda time.

The charges arise from an investigation which got underway after he was found in a dishevelled state on a rural road in Co Leitrim last January.

He was reported missing in June 2012. He had claimed he had been abducted.
