THE PARENTS of murdered teenager Marioara Rostas will arrive back in Romania from Ireland today after a two-day sea and land journey.

On Saturday Dumitru and Marioara Rostas were joined by their grown sons Dumitru and Alexandru at Mountjoy Square, Dublin, where they boarded a mini-bus to take them to a ferry for France. There were emotional scenes as the family left at around 8.30pm for the first leg of their long journey.

On arrival in France, they continued by mini-bus home to Romania where they will prepare the funeral arrangements for the 18-year-old, whose remains will be flown back tomorrow.

Last month, gardai identified remains found near the Kippure estate, in Co Wicklow, as those of the missing teenager.

The last-known sighting of Marioara was in January 2008. She had been in Ireland just three weeks at the time of her disappearance.

Gardai believe that she was brought to a house by a well known Dublin criminal where she was assaulted before being killed.

Her body was then hidden in the Wicklow Mountains.

Marioara's parents spent last week in Ireland before leaving on Saturday.
