Panti leads parade

THE city that never sleeps turned green with pride yesterday as Panti Bliss marched alongside the Mayor of New York in an all-inclusive St Patrick's Day parade.

The event, called St Pat's for All, was organised by gay, lesbian and transgender groups as they have been excluded from the official parade on March 17.


A man remains in garda custody following a shooting incident in Kildare. Gardai were called to Derrinturn at around 4.30am yesterday after reports that two shots were fired into the window of an apartment.

It is thought the apartment was the home of two foreign nationals. No one was injured. The 24-year-old is detained at Leixlip garda station.


A SIGHTSEEING bus company is creating 46 new jobs in Dublin. The Dualway Group, operators of the Dublin-based City Sightseeing bus tours and of the Dublin Visitor Centres, is set to increase its staff by almost half with the immediate recruitment of 46 new staff.

It is also preparing to increase its bus fleet by 50pc with the purchase of 10 new buses.
