PAC seeks legal powers to force Frank Flannery and Angela Kerins to appear
The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) are to seek legal powers to force former Rehab CEOs Frank Flannery and Angela Kerins to appear before them.
Last night, the committee received strongly worded legal letters from solicitors acting on behalf of Mr Flannery and Ms Kerins, but members this morning rejected their criticisms with one branding them "a disgrace."
The PAC will tomorrow formally request the powers from the Dail's oversight Committee on Procedure and Privilege, which will then adjudicate on that request.
PAC Chairman John McGuinness said the request will be submitted once it is legally proofed by the committee's legal advisor.
Sinn Fein's Mary Lou McDonald described suggestions from Mr Flannery's solicitor that the committee was acting beyond its remit as "bogus".
