Outrage as footage of late-night student party shows how it spiralled out of control Newsdesk Newsdesk

A crowd sings Fields of Athenry at full throttle. Is it Millenium Stadium in Cardiff? Is it Twickenham?

Think again. It’s a late-night student party in a usually quiet residential area in Cork city.

This shocking four-minute video shows just what families, young and old, had to endure almost two weeks ago when a student party literally went up an octave.

Standing outside on the street, which was strewn with rubbish, the rowdy chorus switched to a rendition of Amhran na bhFiann shortly afterwards.

The footage, which appears to have been shot through a neighbour’s fence, shows partygoers chanting, shouting, throwing bottles, and kicking rubbish around the street before gardai arrived.

When the crowd eventually dispersed, a mess of rubbish was left behind.
