Motorists are being urged to take extra care on the roads tonight, as dense fog is expected to spread across the country.

An orange weather warning has been issued by Met Eireann, which said fog will develop and form this evening and become dense in places around the country overnight.

The warning remains in place until noon tomorrow.

“It will also get that bit colder tonight, with lowest temperatures of 2 to 6 degrees C with slight frost under cloud breaks," the forecaster said.

“Fog will be slow to clear on Sunday morning and may linger in some places all day.”

But we are due some sunny spells tomorrow.

"Sunny spells will develop tomorrow where fog clears, and there will be Highs of 7 to 10 degrees C, but rising no higher than 5 or 6 degrees where fog persists,” Met Eireann concluded.
