One killed in light aircraft accident in Waterford Newsdesk Newsdesk

One man is believed to have been killed after a light aircraft crashed near Dungarvan, Co Waterford this evening.

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of the accident, which is understood to have occurred shortly before 7pm.

The aircraft came down between Dungarvan and Stradbally in an area known as Garybane.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the aircraft, and died on impact.

Gardai and emergency services remain at the scene.

Gardaí are preserving the scene and the air accident investigation unit attached to the Department of Transport has been contacted.
