Investigation underway after house petrol bombed in attack

A motorist was killed and four others were injured when a car collided with a 4x4.

Gardai have appealed for witnesses to the crash which happened at about 4pm on the N80 at Kilnock, Ballon, Co Carlow.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post-mortem examination will be carried out. The coroner has been notified.

“Two other occupants of the car, both male and aged in their 20s and 40s, were taken by ambulance to St Luke’s General Hospital, Kilkenny,” said a Garda spokesman.

“The occupants of the second vehicle, a male and a female aged in their 60s, were also taken by ambulance to Kilkenny Hospital.”

The road remains closed as Garda forensic collision investigators examine the scene.
