Lotto excitement is gripping a small Irish village of 300 as Saturday night’s winning €11.1m jackpot was scooped with a ticket from the area.

The winning normal play ticket was bought in Spar on Main Street in Kinlough, Co Leitrim, however the ticket-holder has yet to reveal themselves.

A spokeswoman for the shop said: “Apparently everyone was talking about it in the pubs last night. They couldn’t believe it, that it was in our village, so small you know.”

Speaking to, she said the shop had previously sold another winning Lotto ticket within the past 12 months.

She explained: “It’s actually our second win in the past year. We had a €250,000 win in October or September.”

She said the shop was 'quite popular' with locals when it comes to buying Lotto tickets and that 'quite a few' people buy their tickets there on Wednesday and Saturday evenings.

She also said they had a few more locals come in to buy tickets on Sunday morning following the news of the win.

“There’s really great excitement. Everyone’s so happy. It’s really a buzz in the town,” she added.

The spokeswoman confirmed they did not know the identity of the winning ticket holder, saying: “No, we actually don’t have a clue who won. We probably never will know but it was definitely bought in the shop.”

Saturday night’s winning numbers were 10, 11, 12, 15,18, 19 and bonus number 35.

The National Lottery said Saturday night’s winner “now joins the list of Ireland’s top 20 biggest Lotto millionaires”.

It said that to date 20 jackpots with a value of more than €10 million each have been won by Lotto players in Ireland.
