Oliver to offer taste of venture
CELEBRITY chef Jamie Oliver is to give detail of his plans to open a restaurant in Ireland when he launches a food festival next month, writes Tom Tuite
This year's seventh annual Taste of Dublin festival from 14 to 17 June will be held at the Iveagh Gardens, Dublin 2.
Mr Oliver will also be giving a live cooking demonstration on stage in Ireland for the first time at the festival which is expected to attract up to 4,500 visitors a day.
The Taste of Dublin asked Dublin District Court yesterday to grant an occasional liquor licence for the event.
Senior counsel Constance Casssidy, for the Taste of Dublin, told Judge Mary Collins that Mr Oliver will be opening the event.
The judge issued the liquor licence for the festival.
The chef is expected to open a new restaurant at Dundrum Town Centre in the autumn, creating 75 new jobs.
