Oil laundering plants found in border raid
TWO oil laundering plants capable of delivering six million litres of fuel a year have been found near the border.
One of the plants was concealed in a mobile unit, and was capable of being driven to other locations.
Customs officers and gardai raided the plants at Killyneill, Silverstream in Co Monaghan yesterday evening in an intelligence-led operation.
A man in his late 20s, with an address in Northern Ireland, was detained for questioning at Monaghan garda station.
The oil laundering plants were locating in an adjoining farmyard and commercial unit.
The mobile unit was using bleaching earth, while the laundry concealed in a container was using cat litter to launder the fuel.
