THEY contested the Irish No 10 jersey for years. Now Ronan O'Gara and Jonny Sexton are due to be reunited as coach and player in France next season.
O'Gara (pictured) must make the transition from teammate to mentor in the next chapter of his illustrious career, following his decision to take up a role as an assistant coach at Paris-based Racing Metro.
It is understood that 128-times capped O'Gara has secured a deal worth €300,000 a year at the big-spending club.
The 36-year-old will be involved with honing the kicking skills of Racing's squad, including Jonny Sexton.
Sexton and O'Gara were rivals in numerous Leinster-Munster clashes, and competed fiercely for possession of the starting berth at out-half for Ireland.
But they are understood to have developed a good working relationship over the years.
O'Gara, who is fluent in French, takes with him not only a wealth of experience in the game, but also his wife Jessica and their four children, Rua, Molly, JJ and Zac.
