After a long day in the office, workers would have been forgiven for kicking back on the couch, but instead hundreds of them donned their runners to take part in a running challenge.

Dozens of corporate teams togged out for the Ireland's Fittest Company 5k team challenge where groups of co-workers braved the inclement weather and raced around the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown yesterday evening.

Unlike other 5k runs, it catered for people of all abilities and fitness levels.

Ireland's Fittest Company, a new initiative by Independent News and Media, aims to encourage office workers to introduce healthy practices into their hectic lives.
