Noonan to be discharged from hospital
Finance Minister Michael Noonan is to be discharged from hospital this weekend after being diagnosed with the skin condition cellulitus.
Mr Noonan has spent most of the week bed-bound, but has been in contact with Taoiseach Enda Kenny and his department staff about issues such as the upcoming budget and the Comptroller and Auditor General's report into Project Eagle.
Sources say the politician is due back in work on Monday. "He has a massive workload to get through," a source said.
Cellulitus is a painful condition that makes the skin turn red, swollen and hot.
As reported by the Irish Independent this week, ministers are becoming increasingly concerned over Mr Noonan's health.
There had been speculation that his latest illness was due to him suffering an insect bite - but this was quickly dismissed by his spokesman.
