No welcome for press in former tycoon's heartland
IT was clear that the media were not overly welcome in the Quinn heartland.
While attending the GAA match in Brewster Stadium, where fugitive Peter Darragh Quinn was brazenly enjoying a local match, one unidentified man approached this reporter demanding to see identification.
Although no approach had been made to Mr Quinn or any other member of the public in the stadium, upon discovering that I was a member of the Dublin media the man told me I should leave or I could face violence.
He said: "You should f*** off back to Dublin.
"You'll get nothing here, nothing but maybe a belt across the jaw."
No mention had been made to this man of why the Irish Independent was in attendance at the match.
