No stick-in-the-muds here as runners get down and dirty
HUNDREDS of men, women and children got down and dirty at the weekend -- and the dirtier they got, the more fun they seemed to be having.
Families, fun runners and serious athletes battled thick mud and a variety of obstacles at the Mud Run in aid of children's charity Barnardos at Limerick Racecourse on Saturday.
The adults had to fight, wade and climb their way through 5km of mud pits, camouflaged netting and other challenges while the younger competitors ran the 1km distance of the Mud Kidz event.
Once everyone was hosed down, there was plenty of entertainment and a barbecue.
Prizes were awarded to the first male and female to cross the finish line, as well as to those with the best fancy dress.
