Independent TDs Shane Ross and Finian McGrath were both celebrating the Independents scoring 18pc in the latest poll.
Mr McGrath described the figure as "steady", while Mr Ross pointed out it was 5pc above Labour and 1pc behind Fianna Fail. Neither said whether they were calling for a Yes or No vote in the referendum, as they continue to accumulate splinters while sitting on the fence.
Coincidentally, 16pc said they were undecided -- almost the same number as are voting for the Independents.
A conspiracy theorist could suggest these folk are waiting for Mr Ross and Mr McGrath to show them the way to vote.
Instead, the pair are expected to seek a delay in the fiscal treaty referendum today.
