Newspaper left red-faced over 'drugs' deal
A NEWSPAPER which claimed to have purchased cannabis from a Dublin drug dealer following an online order in fact only purchased kitchen herbs.
Last Monday, the 'Irish Daily Mail' claimed to have paid €50 for three grams of marijuana from a man on a city street.
They contacted the dealer via a website to prove how easy it is to arrange drugs sales online.
They then handed over the two plastic bags to gardai at a city station.
However, the Irish Independent can today reveal that, following analysis, the substance purchased last month was nothing more offensive than kitchen herbs.
Officers examined the 'Daily Mail' purchase and found it contained no illegal products.
