Young man rushed to hospital after Christmas eve stabbing
A man is continuing to receive treatment today after he was stabbed on Christmas eve in South Dublin.
Gardaí say that the incident happened late on December 24 in an area known as The Metals, Dalkey.
The victim, who is in his 20s, was stabbed at least once in the attack.
He was brought by ambulance to St Vincent's Hospital where doctors originally feared that his injuries were critical.
However sources said his condition improved on Christmas Day.
Gardaí in Dun Laoghaire have launched an investigation and the they are currently gathering evidence in the area.
It was one of a number of serious incidents dealt with by gardaí over the festive period.
Early on Christmas morning a motorcyclist, who was in his 20s, collided with a metal rail after coming off the Crumlin Road, in Dublin, at 3.50am.
The incident occurred at the junction with Herberton Road.
Paramedics found the victim dead at the scene. He was transferred to Dublin City Morgue.
Gardaí closed off the scene to perform a technical examination.
