Woman who scooped €500k in Euromillions draw checked numbers at Ireland v Italy half-time whistle Newsdesk Newsdesk

Wednesday night was a cracker of an evening for a lot of Irish people - but there were a few that had an extra special reason to celebrate.

While Robbie Brady planted the winning goal in Ireland's must-win match against Italy, this lucky woman was still reeling from her score at half-time.

The Dublin-based lady realised she had scored after checking her EuroMillions ticket during halftime of Ireland’s historic win against Italy in Euro 2016.

She purchased her QuickPick ticket in Spar in Woodstown Village, Knocklyon.

"It’s an amazing feeling, you wake up one morning and you can afford to see the world a little differently," she said as she picked up her cheque today.

"Having the comfort of half a million euro in the bank is just wonderful".

While she admitted she will take some time to consider how best to use her winnings, she has recently booked a nice holiday to New York, which will be paid off early.

She also joked that she will now be travelling with empty suitcases for all her shopping.
