Woman in critical condition following crash between car and truck
A woman is in a critical condition following a crash in Co Kildare in which a car hit a truck early this morning.
The crash happened shortly after 6am on the Kilcock to Enfield road, just 5km from where a head-on crash on Wednesday morning resulted in the death of young Kildare man Michael Naughton.
In this morning's incident a silver Audi A3 with a 03 registration was travelling in the direction of Kilcock on the R148 when it lost control and slammed into the back of a 40ft trailer attached to an articulated lorry which was parked at the side of the wide road.
It hit the truck at an angle, and the back corner of the trailer penetrated into the passenger side of the car.
The female passenger, believed to be in her 20s, was critically injured as a result.
She was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown along with the male driver of the car whose injuries are described as not life-threatening.
A section of the R148 was closed off near the M4 motorway and diversions were put in place.
The area was due to examined by forensic crash investigators from An Garda Siochana today.
