A woman managed to escape a fire through the window of her city flat, it has been reported.

Significant damage was caused to a ground floor flat on Glenbryn Drive, North Belfast after the fire erupted at around 5pm on Friday.

Neighbours told the BBC the woman living in the upstairs flat had to escape through a window.

She was said to have suffered minor injuries.

They also reported seeing four people running away from the flat at the time the fire started.

Separately in an unconnected incident, a 52-year-old man was rescued from a fire at a house on Reid Street off the Cregagh Road in east Belfast.

Both fires are now under control.
