WATCH: Spectacular footage shows boats skilfully managing Storm Frank monster waves

Sarah-Jane Murphy

This spectacular footage of mountainous 10-meter-waves battering Cork harbour during Storm Frank was recorded by Safehaven Marine, as they took advantage of the inclement weather and tested the capability of their new boats.

The vessels can be seen fearlessly facing head first into the waves, bouncing up and down but never looking in danger of capsizing.

The Barracuada in particular seems to almost cut through the waves, such is its design.

Its cockpit resembles the dashboard of a car, and its captain skillfully negotiates the monster waves.

As the water swells and recedes between waves, the force of nature is very apparent.

Both boats - the Wildcat 60 catamaran and the Barracuda, an 11 metre boat, were well able to handle the ferocity of the storms that Ireland has experienced recently.

Safehaven Marine was established in 1998 and have since built over 110 vessels from their shipyard in Youghal Co Cork for customers all over the world.
