Watch: Martin McGuinness speaks candidly about IRA past and role in peace process in interview aired tonight

A revealing interview with the late Martin McGuinness which was conducted in 2015 aired tonight.

Mr McGuinness, 66, died during the night at Derry's Altnagelvin Hospital with his family by his bedside.

He was diagnosed with amyloidosis in December and in January he stepped down as Deputy First Minister of Northern Ireland.

To mark his death, "Martin McGuinness: The Interview" will air on TV3 tonight at 9pm.

In the interview, Mr McGuinness speaks candidly about his IRA past, the conflicts it caused with his Catholic faith and parents, and his role in the peace process.

The interview was carried out by veteran journalist Eamonn Mallie, who works as a reporter and political correspondent in Belfast.
