Now in its 12th year, the Mrs Brown’s Boys star is a staunch supporter of the event, which sees him joining forces with a number of celebrities to sing carols, pose for pics with their little fans and take part in the annual Ward Walk through the hospital.
There with his wife Jenny and sister Eilish alongside his co-star Rory Cowan, he told independent.ie how he had only flown in yesterday morning from his home in Florida.
“We’ve been supporting it since the start, it’s very much part of our Christmas and we flew in from Florida to do it, we wouldn’t miss it for the world,” he said.
Also in attendance was racing legend Ruby Walsh, Brian McFadden, RTE presenter Blathnaid ni Chofaigh, rugby star Shane Byrne, footballer Stephen Hunt and Dragon’s Den star Gavin Duffy.
Former Miss World Rosanna Davison described it as “such a feel-good day” and attended with her famous father Chris de Burgh - complete with his festive novelty tie.
De Burgh just jetted back to Ireland after a whirlwind year promoting his new album and performing more than 60 shows in different countries.
“I was in Berlin last week doing a show with José Carreros, a show for leukaemia that he does every year and over the last year, I’ve been in Canada, United States, Russia but coming home is always the highlight.
“This is a great event, I support it ever year.”
Organised by Ronan Keating’s brother Gary with his wife Val, the hospital was transformed into a celebrity hot-spot this morning as the young patients soaked up the festive atmosphere and uplifting music.
