Two men detained after gardai seize €60k worth of cannabis from grow house

TWO men were arrested and detained by gardai after the discovery of a grow house in Co Leitrim.

The grow house was discovered during a search of a rented property in the Manorhamilton area in Co Leitrim last night, as part of an operation targeting cannabis cultivation.

The house was searched by Manorhamilton gardai and members of the Armed Support Unit (ASU).

During the search, cannabis cultivation equipment with 50 fully mature cannabis plants were discovered.

A further 90 plants in the early stages of growth and 1kg of processed cannabis herb was seized, with a combined estimated value of €60,000.

The two men, aged 49 and 22 and both Lithuanian nationals, are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Ballyshannon Garda Station.

An examination of the site is continuing and enquires are ongoing.
