Two men charged in connection with two robberies yesterday
Two men have been charged in connection with two robberies which occurred in Dublin yesterday afternoon.
The two men, aged 32 and 34, are due to appear before Dublin District Court No.2, Criminal Courts of Justice this morning at 10.30am.
The robberies occurred in the Tallaght area of Dublin yesterday between 4.15pm and 4.40pm.
Gardaí received a report of a robbery which occurred at a post office in Glenview, Tallaght at approximately 4.15pm.
A man entered the premises allegedly in possession of a hatchet and threatened staff and customers before leaving the premises with a small amount of cash.
He left the scene in a car.
At around 4.40pm a man entered a premises on Old Bawn Way, Tallaght again allegedly in possession of a hatchet.
Again he threatened staff and left the scene, in a car, with a large amount of cash.
Gardaí located the car and after a foot pursuit, arrested two men. They were detained at Tallaght Garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
Gardaí seized some cash and a hatchet.
No injuries were reported.
The scenes were preserved and technically examined, and gardai say investigations are ongoing.
