Two men have been arrested as part of the investigation into the murder of a 27-year-old victim last week.
Christopher Nevin was stabbed repeatedly and struck with a weapon which may have been a hatchet or a machete.
The incident occurred last Thursday, November 19, in Winetown, Navan.
Christopher was assaulted after he was approached by men as he stood outside a house on Tailteann Road.
He died the next day at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
His attackers fled the scene in a silver car, leaving their victim lying in a pool of blood.
Two men, both aged in their early 20s, were arrested this evening in the Navan area.
They are currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Navan Garda Station.
Navan's Deputy Mayor Cllr Wayne Forde said locals were shocked and saddened by the violent death of Mr Nevin.
He called for an increased garda presence in the town and said people feared his death could trigger further violence in the area.
