Two young people have lost their lives in separate road traffic accidents in the south east.

A male driver and female pedestrian died within hours of one another, in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Enda Wickham (22), from New Ross, Co Wexford, was seriously injured after the car he was driving struck a ditch, shortly after 3am, on the N25 Waterford to New Ross road at Glenmore, Co Kilkenny.

He was transferred to Waterford University Hospital, but was later pronounced dead.

In a second incident, Linda Griffin (30) was killed when in a collision with a car at 1.30am.

It happened near Kellystown, Drinagh, on the outskirts of Wexford town.

Ms Griffin, who was originally from Castlemaine, Co Kerry, had been enjoying a night out with friends and was making her way home.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and her remains were removed to Wexford General Hospital.

Ms Griffin had been living and attending college in the area.
