A MAN and woman have died in separate drowning incidents.

A search was launched yesterday morning after a man in his 20s fell into the River Finn at Cloghan in Donegal whilst fishing.

The man was believed to be with a group of people when he fell into the water at around 11.45am at a place known locally as The Salmon Leap.

Gardai and local divers searched the riverbank and his body was pulled from the water yesterday evening.

Meanwhile, a 69-year-old woman died after she fell into the lake close to Drumineer in Co Tipperary on Sunday morning.

It is understood the woman, who was a regular visitor to the area, was with a male companion when she fell into the water, and the pair were returning to a boat that was moored at the local marina.
