Two feared dead after light aircraft crashes into mountain on Carlow Wexford border

Two people are feared dead after a light aircraft crashed into the side of a mountain on the Carlow Wexford border.

Emergency services rushed to Mount Leinster after they received a report from a hill walker that a light aircraft crashed there.

A hillwalker reported seeing the aircraft coming down shortly after 4.30pm.

Emergency services and gardai rushed to the scene and located the wreckage. It is now feared that two people have lost their lives following the accident.

The area where the crash occurred, known locally as Kiltealy,  is believed to be difficult to access by foot.

Mount Leinster is located on the border of counties Carlow and Wexford and is a popular sky gliding destiniation.

It is understood the plane crashed on the Wexford side of the mountain.
