Traffic Delays: Dublin Port Tunnel reopens after earlier truck fire
The Dublin Port Tunnel was closed in both directions for a period this morning after a truck caught fire.
Dublin Fire Brigade was called to the scene and both bores of the tunnel were shut while they dealt with the blaze.
There were heavy traffic delays as a result.
AA Roadwatch reported: "Port Tunnel closed both ways following a fire on a truck. S'bound traffic slow from M1/M50 Interchange and n'bound traffic slow from East Wall Rd. Emergency services at scene."
Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted: "Our crews are dealing with an incident in the Northbound bore. Both bores are closed to traffic to facilitate access."
The Dublin City Council traffic management account on twitter says there is a separate collision on the M1/M50 southbound before the tunnel.
There is a also a collision on M1/M50 Southbound before Tunnel Entrance,— Traffic Mgmt. Centre (@DCCTraffic) August 15, 2017
Shortly before 11am emergency services confirmed that both bores had reopened. However delays continued as the backlog was cleared.
