Three men hospitalised after violent altercation

A violent altercation at a halting site in Clondalkin has resulted in three men being taken to hospital.

The row broke out at around before 1pm according to the Garda Press Office and is still ongoing.

A spokesperson told Independent.ie: "Gardaí in Clondalkin are currently at the scene of an altercation at a halting site in Oldcastle, Clondalkin.

"The incident occurred before lunchtime, three males have been injured and have been taken to hospital for treatment. Their injuries are described as non-life-threatening."

Meanwhile gardaí in Kilkenny are appealing for witnesses to a fight which broke out in the early hours of this morning on Upper John Street.

A slash hook was reportedly produced during the altercation involving four or five men at 3.40am.

According to local radio station KCLR FM none of those involved were seriously injured and the slash hook was later recovered from the scene.

Gardaí are now appealing to anyone with information who was around the area at the time.  Those wishing to contact gardai about the incident can do so by contacting Kilkenny Garda Station on 056-7775000.
