Thousands left without power as ESB networks suffer further faults this weekend

Thousands of home were left without power this evening as ESB networks suffered a numbre of faults.

Around 2,000 customers in the Templeogue area of Dublin were impacted due to a "cable fault" from around 7pm this evening.

The lack of power lasted for a number of hours with the electricity supply company reporting that the issue has been resolved shortly after 9pm.

A smaller fault also occurred in the Oughterard and Moycullen areas of Galway tonight.

Some 340 customers have been left without power at approximately 9pm.

Services are not expected to be restored to these customers until after midnight.
