Teenager (15) arrested and two firearms recovered after major garda manhunt in Dublin
A 15-year-old boy has been arrested and two firearms recovered after a major garda operation in the capital.
Gardaí confirmed that a search operation commenced at approximately 9.30am today following reports of a disturbance at a house in Kilmainham involving a youth with a firearm.
The youth had left the scene on arrival of gardaí. There were no reported injuries in the incident.
A garda spokesman said: "During search operation involving local Garda Units, Emergency Response Unit, Garda Dog Unit and Air Support Unit, two firearms (ballistic examination pending) were recovered.
"A male aged in his teens was later arrested in the Inchicore area."
Gardaí investigated earlier reports that shots had been fired at a home in the Labre Park area of Bluebell. They have since established that this was not the case.
He was detained under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Kevin Street Garda Station but was later released.
Enquiries are on going.
