Galway County Council has refused a subsidiary of fast-food chain Supermac’s planning permission for a new leisure centre after finding the proposal was “car and roads dominated”.

Atlantic Troy Limited was seeking to build the 2,445 square metre complex next to the Loughrea Hotel and Spa on the Athenry Road, which is part of the Só hotel group run by Supermac’s chief Pat McDonagh.
