A MAN who was blasted with a shotgun after he was lured out of his home will make a full recovery.
Stephen Somers (32) was in the front garden of his house in Belcamp Grove, Priorswood, when he was approached by a young hooded man on a bicycle.
The man opened fire with the weapon, causing Mr Somers serious injuries.
The shooting happened at 3.45pm on Saturday and witnesses have said that there were children playing in the area at the time.
Gardai are pursuing a line of inquiry that Mr Somers may have been lured from his home in an attempted murder plot.
It is understood that his mother Ann was also in the house at the time.
"It seems as if he was lured from the house," a source told the Herald.
"He was out in the front garden when he was hit, he had just walked out.
"He is recovering well now, but it could have been much worse."
"The injured male was taken to Beaumont Hospital with injuries described as non-life threatening. The gunman made good his escape," a statement from the gardai said.
Mr Somers, who has three brothers - Brian, Thomas and Liam - suffered bereavement when his father Liam passed away in January 2013.
Investigating officers are working to establish a motive for the shooting.
