Shop staff threatened with gun and iron bar in cash robbery


A 24-year-old man has been arrested following the armed robbery of a shop in Co Meath.

The incident occurred shortly before 6pm yesterday at the store in Kildalkey.

Two men entered the shop armed with a hand gun and an iron bar.

They threatened staff and stole an amount of cash from the store before leaving.

It is understood they were driven away from the scene in a waiting car.

No shots were fired and none of the staff were physically injured during the incident.

The man was arrested in Navan shortly after midnight in a follow up operation and a car was seized by gardai at this time.

He is currently detained under section 30 of the Offences against the State Act, 1939 at Trim Garda Station.

The investigation is ongoing.
