Red sky at night lights up photo contest
GAZING out into the vastness of the Atlantic skyline from Ireland's most northerly point – Malin Head – a kaleidoscope of shapes and colours light up the distant horizon.
It's just one of the number of unique images taken by Martina Gardiner which is in the mix for this year's 'Astronomy Photographer Of The Year Competition'.
She also captured a unique image of Dunluce Castle on the Antrim coast. She said it was the first time she had seen pinks and reds over Co Antrim.
Organised by the Royal Observatory Greenwich, in association with the BBC 'Sky at Night' magazine, winning images from 2014 will be on show at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, from September 18.
