One supermarket shopper got more than he bargained for at his local Aldi - after finding himself wedged on a bollard in the store's carpark.

Gardai were called to the scene in west Dublin when a driver of a dark grey saloon car hit the bollard while reversing the vehicle.

However, the speed at which the car reversed actually succeeded in bending the first obstacle, leaving the car wedged on the second pole.

Local taxi firm Lynk tweeted a picture of the bizarre scene in Palmerstown.

"Meanwhile, outside @Aldi_Ireland in Palmerstown...   #WTH #Dublin #HowDidWeEndUpHere," read the post.

No injuries were reported following the incident.
