Pedestrian killed in road incident after car hit her in early hours

A woman has died in a road incident after a car collided with her in the early hours of this morning.

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle on the N25 Wexford to Rosslare Rd, just outside Wexford town.

The woman was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her name or age has not been positively identified at this stage and her body has been removed to the mortuary at Wexford General Hospital.

The 24-year-old male driver and sole occupant of the car was uninjured in the collision.

The road was currently closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Examination but has since reopened
