A plane has made an emergency landing at Dublin Airport this afternoon.

The passenger flight - part of the Air Transat fleet - was en route from Rome to Toronto.

There was an issue with the aircraft that forced the plane to land at Dublin at approximately 4.45pm.

According to a DAA spokesperson, the plane landed safely and all passengers have disembarked.

The craft is now being investigated to establish what caused the, as yet unknown, issue.

Emergency services - including several units from the Dublin Fire Brigade - responded to the scene.
